Understanding the distribution and dynamics of marine biodiversity

The world's oceans are home to remarkable biodiversity, but our understanding of how this abundance of life is distributed in space, and how it changes through time, remains limited. We bring together data collected for diverse purposes by countless researchers. Using the computational and statistical tools of macroecology, we try to describe general patterns in the distribution of life in the seas, how it has changed in the past, and how it is likely to change under future climate and management regimes.
